The three young girls were to be transferred to theMore River settlement school, a school for the half-caste Australian populations. By taking thehalf-caste girls to a settlement school, the government intended to educate the girls to make them‘more white.’ Molly, the main character in the story decided to run away from the settlementschool and took away the two other girls with her.
